We are looking for a Patient Access Representative to join our client’s team. In this role, you will obtain demographic and financial information from patients when patients check in. In addition to updating their information and processing copayments upon check-in, you will also assist with insurance authorizations and pre-certifications. This is an administrative role that requires customer service skills. Our ideal applicant is bilingual.  Overall duties include scheduling appointments for patients by telephone for a high-volume multi-physician specialty care practice located in Northwest Houston.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Schedules patient appointments
  • Answers all incoming telephone calls and either responds to inquiries, directs the caller to appropriate personnel or initiates a triage telephone encounter for response by medical personnel
  • Verifies insurance for patient
  • Collects patient insurance co-pays
  • Schedules appointments and enters appointment dates and times into the computerized scheduler
  • Records when appointments have been filled or canceled
  • Maintains accurate physician and audiologist schedules
  • Reschedules all patients affected by physician schedule changes within 24 hours of notification or within 4 hours if changes are for the next day’s patient schedule
  • Gather all demographic and insurance information to verify eligibility
  • Maintains phone system for operational purposes
  • Assist with referral and online appointment scheduling
  • Completes transfer of phones to night service and retrieves from service in the mornings
  • Maintains communication with answering service regarding messages, physician on-call schedule, and changes to our routine operations schedule
 
Patient Account Representative’s Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED. One-year medical front office experience
  • Patient scheduling experience
  • Experience verifying insurance
  • Data entry experience with medical office computer software; ECW experience is preferred
  • Experience applying copays to patient account
  • Medical Front Office
